Panaji 5 Aug : Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, on Friday, said that the state was trying to promote film culture and industry.
In his speech at the opening of Marathi Film Festival here, he said: “Last 18 years we’ve celebrated the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) festival in Goa.The natural beauty of Goa is stunning so many shootings of Hindi as well as Marathi films are held in Goa.Film culture can be developed in Goa thanks to the help of IFFI.Our goal is to help develop the industry of film.

“We support Konkani as well as Marathi films.If we can get the support of all of you and we can develop film culture in a positive way.Goa has contributed many actors to the film industry.”

Sawant told the media that the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) is working to develop the film industry in Goa.

“Taath Kana” is a Marathi film that tells the life of the life of the renowned neuro-spinal surgeon, writer and surgeon Dr.PremAnand S.Ramani will be screened on the weekend.

Concerning Ramani, Sawant said that youngsters ought to read his work (“Taath Kana”) and also go to the movie that is based on his life.”He inspires us,” he said.
