Los Angeles, Aug 7 : James Franco, the director of the film, has recently announced casting as Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro in the forthcoming biopic “Alina of Cuba’ has been making waves.
Following Colombian actor John Leguizamo, who starred in the role of Aurelio in “John Wick was vocal about his displeasure with Franco’s role, the daughter of Castro Alina Fernandez has expressed her support of Franco as her father in the upcoming independent film According to Deadline.

According to Deadline, she is also pleased of the fact that “The project is 100% Latino in both in front of and behind the camera.”

“James Franco has a striking physical likeness with Fidel Castro, in addition to his charisma and skills,” said Fernandez about the 127 Hours Oscar nominated actor of Latin-Portuguese origin.Fernandez will be playing in Alina of Cuba by Ana Villafane.

Fernandez said to Deadline, “I find the selection of the cast to be amazing.Ana VillafaAe is incredibly talented and not just in her acting, but she is also a phenomenal singer, a truly complete performer.I’m sure Mia Maestro, an actress I admire, will comprehend and interpret Naty my mother in unique ways and I’m eager to see her build her own character.”

The cast supporting of Alina of Cuba includes Alanna de la Rosa Maria Cecilia Botero, Harding Junior, and Cuban-born actors Sian Chiong and Rafael Ernesto Hernandez.

“The remainder of the ensemble is expected to be a great surprise for the entire audience,” continued Fernandez who’ll be a biographical and historical advisor for Alina of Cuba.

“The filmmakers put in a lot of work and I couldn’t be more than grateful for their inclusive selection.”

“To me the most important thing about this film is that the dialogue about Cuba is alive.Personally, I find the experience not at all unexpected, but, more importantly it’s humble”, she added.
