Farmer killed by tiger at Lakhimpur Kheri

Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, Nov 28 : , A 45-year old farmer was killed by a tiger in the vicinity of Majhra Purab Dumera village within Lakhimpur Kheri.
The big cat attacked the farmer while he was working on his farmland on Saturday.

This village is located adjacent to the Nighasan Forest Range, which is within the buffer zone of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve.

This is the third incident of its kind in the region in the last two months.

Vimlesh Kumar (Nighasan ranger) inspected the spot and found pugmarks that were characteristic of a tiger.The locals were advised to work in groups and to avoid the forest area.

“Our team is combing this area,” the officer stated.We have promised the victims’ kin that they would receive compensation under the state disasters Act.The Dudhwa Foundation will immediately provide Rs 10,000 compensation to the victims’ kin.”Senior officials were informed about the incident.”

A 60-year-old farmer was killed by a machete on October 9th, while another was killed October 5.

Locals believe the same tiger killed all three men and demand that the big cat is calmed as soon as possible.
