In an open letter, PM Modi was reminded that the three farm law repeals were not the only demands of the farmers. There were also three additional demands.

The first demand of farmers is for the Minimum Support Price (MSP), which is calculated using the C2+50% formula (that is, 50 percent above the production cost) to be legal for all crops as well for all farmers.

This letter reminded Prime Minister of the fact that the MSP was recommended by a committee that he chaired in 2011.His government then announced the decision in Parliament.

Second, withdraw the Power Regulation Amendment (Amendment Bill 2020/2021).The SKM stated that the government promised to withdraw it but had inserted the bill in Parliament’s proceedings.

The Commission for Air Quality Management Act for Delhi Surrounding Regions (CAQM Act) has been repealed. This Act did not remove the provisions that called farmers “criminals”, but kept the section 15, which can still be used to punish them.

Although the Morcha wrote that they were hopeful about these demands, Prime Minister Tony Blair’s address to nation didn’t make any announcements. The SKM stated, however, that there are many other matters which have been brought up during our agitation over the past year, and these too should be investigated immediately.

Since June 2020, hundreds of cases were filed against farmers in Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh. The case should be withdrawn immediately.

Also, suspend and arrest the Union Minister for State for Home Ajay Mohra Teni.He is charged under section 120B with the Lakhimpur Kheri tragedy.

This was where four farmers were killed when a car drove them to their deaths.Compensation and rehabilitation for the 700 families who lost their lives due to this agitation were demanded by the SKM.

SKM, a consortium of farmer organisations and other non-governmental organizations, had earlier decided that it would continue all announced programs as planned at its first meeting held at Kisan Andolan’s headquarters in Singhu Border, north Delhi, after the announcement by the Prime Minister.

This includes the “Kisan Mahapanchayat” at Lucknow on Monday, the “Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Diwas” on Sir Chhotu’s birthday on November 24, and the meeting on November 27, to discuss developments.

A statement by the SKM stated that they appealed to citizens to participate in all events and to hold farmer-worker protests at state levels in faraway states.

SKM also stated that it would continue its “Sansad Chalo” march on November 29.
