Ex-Minister Gummadi Kuthuhalamma Quits TDP

Andhra Pradesh Telugu Desam Party leader Kuthuhalamma, who served as the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in the joint Andhra Pradesh state, has resigned from the TDP.This is said to be a big blow to the chief of the Telugu Desam Party, Nara Chandrababu Naidu.Nara Chandrababu is receiving series of backlashes from his party leaders.Kuthuhalamma is a doctor by profession.

Initially, she served as the Chittoor Zilla Parishad chairperson on behalf of Congress.

Kuthuhalamma contested from Vepanjeri (GD Nellore) constituency in 1985 as a Congress candidate and was first elected to the Legislative Assembly.

Later, she won as an MLA in the year 1989, 1999, 2004 assembly elections.She served as the Minister of Medical Health and Women Welfare in the Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy government.

Kuthuhalamma served as the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in the joint state of Andhra Pradesh in 2007.In 1994, the Congress party refused to give MLA ticket to Kuthuhalamma.

With this, she competed as an Independent and lost in the next elections.

In the 2009 elections, she contested as a Congress MLA candidate from the GD Nellore constituency, and she won.
