Vienna 9 August : Vienna, Aug 9 : European Union has put forward the final version of the draft resolution on the reactivation of the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement Russia’s chief negotiator for the Iran nuclear talks Mikhail Ulyanov said. Ulyanov who is the permanent representative of Russia to international organizations in Vienna Ulyanov, who is also the permanent representative of Russia to international organisations in Vienna, tweeted: “The participants in the Vienna talks must now decide whether the draft is acceptable for them.If there is a case of there being no objections, the nuclear agreement will be reinstated.”
The Vienna talks on the possibility of reviving negotiations for the Iran nuclear agreement, officially named the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was resumed in the Austrian capital last week following an absence of five months, Xinhua news agency reported.
Iran entered into the nuclear agreement with the world’s powers in July of 2015, and agreed to limit its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of the US-led sanctions.However the then US president Donald Trump pulled Washington out of the deal and imposed unilateral sanctions against Tehran which prompted Tehran to abandon some of its obligations under the agreement.
The marathon talks for reviving the JCPOA began in April 2021 in Vienna however, they were put on hold in March 2022 due to differences in the political arena between Tehran and Washington.
