Estonia is tightening entry regulations for Russian Nationals

Tallinn 18 August : Estonia’s new restrictions for Russian citizens who want to travel to the Baltic country entered into force on Thursday.
This week, Estonia’s government announced that it would cease issuing Estonian visas to Russian citizens and would ban entry for Russian citizens with Estonian-issued tourism business, sports, or cultural visas as reported by the news agency dpa.

But, Russian nationals with a visa issued by one of the other Schengen countries or currently in the Schengen zone will be able to travel to Estonia.

The Schengen area encompasses the majority of European Union countries and facilitates the free mobility in the EU.

Estonia will keep issuing visas in certain circumstances, including those for Russian diplomats as well as their families, as well as Russians traveling with a close friend that is an Estonian citizen or a long-term resident.

Additional visa inspections will be carried out at three border crossings that connect Russian and Estonia: Narva, Luhamaa and Koidula An Interior Ministry spokesperson said.
