Ellie Goulding reveals she’s a metalhead, and her top metal bands

Los Angeles, Sep 1 : Singer Ellie Goulding used to be metalhead as she was just a teenager.
The ‘Easy Lover’ singer is a real rocker and is eager to start “shredding” on the guitar for her next tour, even though she could be a pop singer with an affinity for a ballad according to aceshowbiz.com.

“I’m going to be playing guitar for the bulk of the time when I begin touring next year, since my album is due out in the beginning of the year. Then, I’ll be playing a whole year of concerts, I hope,” she said.

“That’s my idea for me.I’m planning to play guitar for the majority of it and it will only require a lot of rehearsals.I’d like to reach the point where it’s effortless for me.I’ve done some shows with only a guitar. It’s strange however, I suppose that I was more focused on my singing.”

Recalling the list of bands she likes, including System of a Down, Deftones and Spineshank, Goulding confessed she was not a fan of indie music as a child.

In an interview with Bustle, she said: “God, so many.I love System of a Down and a little of Deftones I love their song “Passenger” with Maynard James Keenan from Tool. The song was Killswitch Engage and Spineshank.”

“I recall Spineshank.I bought Kerrang! every week, and NME occasionally however at the time, I was not an NME girl since I didn’t really enjoy indie bands as much. There was always the Strokes, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

I am a fan of Glassjaw More like hardcore.I was a real Kerrang! Girl.”

Her favorite guitarists include Tom Morello, Jimi Hendrix as well as Eric Clapton – though she has branded Eric Clapton “a bit of an d ***.”

The “Lights” singer-songwriter recalled being told that she was “really uneasy” about her voice, after she was instructed to “stick to playing guitar” because her vocals are “not to everyone’s liking”.

If asked if she’s been an accomplished performer, she said: “No.I’ve always thought of this guy telling me to continue playing guitar since I’m skilled at playing guitar, and the fact that my voice was unique and not for everyone’s taste. It made me feel really anxious and really unsure.”

“I wasn’t the type of person who would say”Everyone is able to be a f*** because I’m going sing regardless I’m going to sing anyway!’ I was very concerned about what other people believed of me.I had impostor’s syndrome; I was not sure I deserved any kind of success.”

“When you start to take off other people’s opinions of you, instead of your own opinion of yourself your life becomes much more clear.”
