Mumbai 7th of September : In a kind of mini-general election in Maharashtra 1166 Gram Panchayats in 18 districts will go to polls to directly select Sarpanch as well as Gram Panchayat members State Election Commissioner U.P.S.Madan announced here on Wednesday.The process of voting for which the code of conduct took effect on Wednesday – will start on September 13 and nominations will be accepted between September 21 and 27 September with the deadline for withdrawal being September 30.
Coting will take place in all villages going to the polls on October 13 between 7.30 a.m.-5.30 p.m., however, in the areas impacted by Maoists, voting will close around 3 p.m., Madan added.
The count of votes will be taken up on October 14th and the results will be announced on the same day.
The districts where GP elections will be held are Thane 500 villages Raigad 20 Ratnagiri 51, Sindhudurg 04, Nashik 194, Pune 02, Nandurbar 206, Satara 16, Kolhapur 04, Amravati 01, Washim 01, Nagpur 17, Wardha 09, Chandrapur 94, Bhandara 20, Gondiya 06, and Gadchiroli 21.
