4 PFI locations in Kerala are raided by ED

New Delhi, Dec 8, 2008 : On Wednesday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), conducted raids at four locations of Popular Front of India in Kerala as part of a case relating to foreign funding.
Sources close to the ED claim that they received crucial inputs from the PFI about foreign funding.

According to the source, a few Keralans who live abroad are also being monitored.

Sources said that “the people who are on our radar” will also be summoned.

Mohammed Saqib, a member of the PFI, said that they were waiting to hear the latest information in order to comment on the ED incident.

He said, “We are still waiting for the update.We will be able comment once the picture has been cleared.”

Saleem, another official at PFI, said that he was unaware of the ongoing issues.

According to the information, four PFI members — Atiq, Siddiqui and Masud Ahmad – were recently arrested by the Uttar Police of Mathura on October 5, last year.According to the information, they were accused of inciting riots within the state after Hathras rape/murder case.

Uttar Pradesh Police claimed that the four men had fallen apart during interrogation and that Rauf Sharif (general secretary of Campus Front of India), helped them financially and incited riots in the state.

Rauf is alleged to have foreign connections, through which money was being sent out to other members.

The ED filed the current case based on the Uttar Pradesh Police case.
