Duterte approves 2022 budget for funding recovery efforts from the pandemic

Manila, December 30, : , Rodrigo Duterte, Philippine president signed Thursday’s nearly $100 billion budget for 2022 in order to finance the country’s continued recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Duterte stated that the budget was designed to encourage actions that are focused on building resilience in the face of the pandemic and sustaining momentum toward recovery.

Duterte stated that the budget of 5.024 trillion pesos (10 per cent) will prioritize the health of the Filipino people by ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare.

The President announced that 88.9 million pesos had been allocated to the program for health facility operations and procurement of medicines and drugs.This was in order to ensure a smooth operation of the existing health system.

To pay the benefits and salaries of health workers, the budget allocated 17 billion pesos for the Human Resources for Health Deployment Program.

According to him, the budget for 2022 will provide the necessary funding to support the Covid-19-related pandemic and to protect and assist displaced workers to promote socio-economic recovery.

Since 2020, the Philippines is battling pandemic.

There are now more than 2.8 million Covid-19 confirmed cases.This includes 51,213 deaths.
