Mumbai, November 20, 2018 : .Uta Briesewitz, a German director has spoken out about portraying powerful women characters in fantasy series “The Wheel of Time”. Based on Robert Jordan’s bestseller fantasy novel of the same title, this series will focus on a feminine-focused fantasy featuring a number of unassailable and strong female characters, such as Rosamund Pike, Madeleine Madden, Zoe Robins and Priyanka Bolse.
Briesewitz shares a touching example from the shoot that illustrates the powerful portrayal of female characters in fantasy series.
She stated, “We were filming a scene where women worked together in fighting a trolloc.After we had rehearsed it, the entire set started applauding afterward, something that has never happened before.”
Briesewitz said: “I was moved by that response, so I inquired the women why they applauded.I was told by all the female sets that it was women working together, and that it’s amazing.
She said that she was able to realize again the importance of women seeing a particular type of representation.
She stated that she believed by being on the set as a female, she was representing all women who work on sets.
We may have broken though the glass ceiling, but there is another way.Now we all can move up and showcase our talents and our potential.Women are no longer being restricted from being themselves.
On November 19, the first three episodes will be available.Prime Video will have the fantasy series in English, Hindi and Tamil.
