New Delhi, Aug 5 : With Delhi scheduled to go back to the previous excise policies from September 1st, the nation’s capital will be stocked with 500 liquor stores by the end of the month to cater to the needs of the residents.
The number could be raised by 700 by year’s close.

According to an official source According to a source, there are four Delhi government corporationsare in operation, including the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) and the Delhi State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd (DSCSC) and the Delhi Consumers Cooperative Wholesale Store (DCCWS) will be given the responsibility of opening the stores in the city.

However the deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also stated in an interview last week that the city will continue to maintain its balance through the opening of about 500 outlets.

The AAP government is also planning to open premium stores that will sell top-quality brands with these four companies.

“The DTTDC will open liquor stores in zones 1-9, DSIIDC in zones 10-18, DCCWS in 19-24 and DSCSC in 25-30 together with the airport zone” According to the source.

He added that Delhi Cantonment and New Delhi Municipal Council areas will be administered by the DSIIDC.

These companies have been asked to pay 15 percent of their profit as rent.

However, there could be a few exceptions if shops are situated in malls, according to the report.

However, the source stated that the shops that operated under the old excise regime until September 2021 are requesting that they be allowed to open vending machines however, the government isn’t in the mood to allow private parties in retail liquor sales.
