New Delhi, Nov 24, : .The Delhi-NCR Air Quality Index (AQI) showed a slight improvement, falling under the poor’ category.

However, it is likely to return to’very poor’ due to a shift in wind direction starting Wednesday.
The Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi (Ministry of Earth Sciences), stated in its latest bulletin: “The predominant surface winds are likely to be coming out of the Northwest during daytime and Northeast during evening/night, with wind speeds 05-10 km/h and mostly clear skies on November 23.

“The Southeast direction of Delhi is likely to dominate the surface wind with wind speeds between 05-10 km/h, mostly clear skies and low fog in the morning of November 24.

“The dominant surface wind is likely coming from the Northwest direction Delhi with wind speed 05 to 08 kmph, mostly clear sky and low fog in the morning of November 25.”

According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research, Sunday’s air quality in Delhi was visibly better after strong surface winds swept through, according the SAFAR.

It also stated that Wednesday’s AQI was 280 in the ‘poor category.

An AQI of between zero and 50 can be considered ‘good’.51 and 100 are considered’satisfactory’.101 and 200 are considered’satisfactory’.101 and 200 are considered’moderate’.201 and 300 are considered ‘poor’.301 and 400 are considered’very poor’.Then there’s the range between 401 to 500’severe’.

At 9 a.m., the levels of PM 2.5 and 10 pollutants were 114 (poor), and 220 (moderate).

The minimum temperature in Delhi was 9 degrees Celsius Wednesday.

India Meteorological Department (IMD), however, predicted a mostly clear sky throughout the day.

The maximum temperature for the day is 27 degrees Celsius, and the relative humidity at 8.30 am was 95%.

According to the IMD Delhi will experience foggy mornings for the entire week.
