New Delhi, Sep 4 : More than six liquor stores have been opened in the premises of certain Delhi Metro stations here after the capital city of India as of September 1 came back to its exise policies of the past.The metro stations where liquor stores have launched comprise Rajouri Garden, Badarpur, Dwarka, Mundka, and Karol Bagh.
These liquor stores have been opened in order to make more sales since metro stations have higher footfalls.
Four major undertakings of the Delhi government -four agencies of the Delhi government – Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIDC), Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC), Delhi State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd (DSCSC) and Delhi Consumers Cooperative Wholesale Store (DCCWS) were assigned the responsibility of opening the stores in the city.
Together, the four agencies will be opening 200 more vending machines at the end of the year.
According to a source Delhi government plans to launch the service on Monday with 300 outlets throughout the city.
Later, at the close of the year the number of outlets could be increased to 700.
The city was expected to have about 500 outlets by Monday.
Around 80 wholesalers have been registered with the department.However, customers will be able to choose from 500 brands.
After Lt.Governor V.K.Saxena suggested the governor to initiate a CBI investigation into the latest excise policy.Delhi the government is now deciding to return to the old rules of retail liquor sales in Delhi.
However the Excise Policy 2021-22 that was extended two times following the 31st of March for a time of 2 months and ended on July 31.Then, it was granted one month of extension to prepare for the old system of Excise policies was set to begin on September 1.
