New Delhi, Nov 22, : .Three former navy officers were released on bail in connection to an alleged leakage of sensitive information about the Kilo Class submarine.
A Delhi Court said that the charges against the agency are “incomplete”, and the documents don’t mention any investigation under the Official Secrets Act. According to the court’s recent order, Anuradha Shukla Bhadra Bhardwaj, the Special Judge, noted that even though the agency filed its charges within sixty days of November 2, these documents were “incomplete”.They do not contain any information about the investigation under the OSA.This makes the accused eligible for bail.
On furnishing personal bonds in the amount of Rs 1 lakh and one surety equal, the court granted bail to the defendant under CrPC 167(2).
They have also instructed the accused not to contact anyone in this matter.
They will not influence witnesses or alter the evidence.
They must leave Delhi after being informed by the Investigator that further investigation is not necessary.
If they have been informed otherwise, they will be able to access their numbers and provide them to the Officer.The order stated that they must appear before the court “without fail.”
The CBI was represented by Raman Kumar, Public Prosecutor.
S.J.Accused Singh, Randeep Singh (retired commodore) were both arrested September 2, on allegations that they had leaked internal documents regarding tenders related to specific documents for illegal gratification.
Randeep Singh was represented by advocates Bharat Chugh and Yashpreet Singh.Sumit Kumar, advocate, appeared at the T.P.Shastry is the Executive Director at Hyderabad’s private company Allen Reinforced Plastics Private Ltd.(ARPPL).On September 8, he was arrested following an investigation.
The Central investigation agency found that the accused was passing confidential information about the Medium Refit Life Certification (MRLC) programme for India’s Kilo Class submarines on to unauthorised persons to illicitly gratify.
In the investigation, the agency interviewed dozens of Naval Officers in high-ranking positions.
The case was finally revealed on September 3.
To prevent the accused being released on bail by the court, they had to be filed in the CBI special court Rouse Avenue within the 60-day period following the September 2 registration.
