Los Angeles, Nov 29, : .Although David Tenant, a Scottish actor, has yet to appear on television, the makers have already approved a second season with Ashley Pharoah as showrunner.Variety.com reports that Tenant will almost certainly reprise his role of adventurer Phileas Fogg in Season 2.
He stars alongside Ibrahim Koma in Passepartout, and Leonie Benesch in Abigail.
Production companies Slim Film + Television, Federation Entertainment confirmed the series will return.Federation Entertainment also revealed a new Jules Verne adaptation, ‘Journey to the Centre of the Earth’.Pharoah is also on board as showrunner.
“Journey to the Centre of the Earth” tells the story of Professor Lidenbrock, a geology professor who sets out to discover the secrets of humanity’s future and mounts an expedition to the earth’s core.Casting is still not known.
Simon Crawford Collins will produce both series.
Crawford Collins released a statement, “We have enjoyed working on the sequel to “Around the World in 80 Days” and now we are excited to bring Ashley’s trademark mixture of humor and emotion to “Journey to the Centre of the Earth.”
Collins said: “Ashley has created an ensemble of exciting new characters to bring a fresh, modern take on another of Jules Verne’s beloved novels.”
