Cybercriminals are following new ways to trap people.Recently, cybercriminals trapped a woman Intelligence officer unknowingly and looted her bank account.
The woman officer is from Penamaluru, Krishna district in AP.She booked tickets through the ‘Make My Trip’ app to go abroad.However, her trip was postponed.With this, she thought of altering the travel dates.For this, she phoned the ‘Make My Trip’ number which she found on Google.The call disconnected within seconds and she received a call from another unknown number.
The cybercriminals on the phone said that they were calling from ‘Make My Trip’.She then spoke to them.
In the call, they asked her to click a link sent to her registered mobile number to get her money back.As soon as she clicked on the link, she got a message that Rs.1.63 lakh had been transferred from her account.Immediately, she lodged a complaint with the police.
Cybercrime police found out how the money transferred from her account.Through the account details, the accused was caught and she received her money back.Meanwhile, the cybercrime police suggested that people should not trust the numbers in Google.
They asked people only to call the numbers on the official website or to the numbers in the app.
