He was shocked to discover that a girl he did not know appeared on his other side.Cyber criminals quickly recorded the professor looking at the porn video before he could disconnect. The harassment started.
It was about 2 AM when I got a call on Facebook Messenger from an unknown individual. The call came in at 2 a.m.I was greeted by a girl I didn’t recognize. The call was immediately disconnected.

But, before I was able to figure out the exact cause, I received a handful of screenshots from my Messenger video chat,” a confused professor shared with IANS under anonymity.

He panicked and immediately removed the user from his account.

The professor received an audio call from another man after an hour.He asked him to immediately pay Rs.20,000 through a digital payment application within five minutes. If he did not, he was going to post the screenshots to Facebook for all his family and friends to see.

I was anxious and deleted my Facebook account. He said that although nothing happened during the night, he was still concerned.

These anonymous WhatsApp video chats on Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp are increasing in India, and Indian authorities cannot stop them.

Cyber experts believe that the notorious Mewat gangs have returned to extort money by using WhatsApp video calls and blackmailing people.

They operate from the Mewat area of Haryana. These cyber thugs operate from Bhiwadi (Tijara), Kishangarh Bas and Ramgarh.

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police announced that it had arrested the leader of an interstate sextortion gang based out of Rajasthan’s Bharatpur in October.

Police say that the Nasir gang (25) was involved in blackmailing people with objectionable videos and pictures in order to extort money.

Alwar Police in the “sextortion” case has arrested 600 suspects and at least 36 gangs.

These activities have increased dramatically since the outbreak.

The cyber criminals can record porn videos and send them back to you asking for money. This could range from Rs 10,000 up to a few lakh.

Rajshekhar Rajaharia, an independent researcher in cyber security told IANS that if denied they will threaten to post your porn-watching videos on your social media networks and then the harassment starts.”

This month, a journalist based in Delhi-NCR faced the exact same problem when he was sent a WhatsApp video and got to see a girl.

He was both surprised and confused by the situation, so he disconnected immediately.Later, he received screenshots and a recorded video from the caller.

The person claimed that he was going to share these videos on all social media platforms and demanded Rs 23,000 from me immediately in order to remove the video. After I had blocked the person, I received calls asking for money transfer from unknown number.

I turned my phone off for several hours and blocked the calls,” IANS journalist said.

Later, he did not get any calls.

Rajaharia says that if they don’t give up immediately, chances are they won’t share your porn with anyone. This could lead to trouble if someone goes to cyber-police with their contact information.

However, victims should contact their local cyber police branch immediately.Do not respond to an anonymous phone call immediately.

The cyber-expert advised that you first try to discover the identity of the anonymous caller via WhatsApp or SMS, then verify if they are in your circle of friends.

He added, “Even though you took the anonymous WhatsApp Messenger or Facebook Messenger video chat, turn off your camera or cover it.”
