Birmingham 7 August : Australia captain Meg Lanning has won the toss and decided to bat first against India in the gold medal match of 2022 Commonwealth Games at Edgbaston on Sunday. The tournament, in which women’s T20 cricket was first introduced, kicked in the beginning with the India-Australia game in Group A.It is now coming to its final stage with another match between India and Australia.
The last time the two teams played in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Australia chased down 155 with an extra over despite losing their top five in the first 8 overs with the pacer Renuka Thakur winning four wickets in a spectacular performance.
“Good wicket, great crowd, very excited about playing in the final.We think we’ll be able to achieve a great performance this afternoon,” said Meg, who added that Australia remain unchanged in the eleven players after their five-wicket victory in the second semifinal against New Zealand.
India captain Harmanpreet Kaur said her eleven in unchanged from the four-run victory over hosts England in the first semifinal on Saturday.”Toss isn’t in our hands and we’re ready for both.It is always essential to give your all and we want to take advantage of every moment we have today.”
