New Delhi, April 14 : With the aim of motivating its personnel, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is mulling to give choice postings to personnel showing exemplary courage during operations against terrorists and ultras in the Left Wing Extremism areas, apart from the cash rewards and Director General’s commendation, officials said.
CRPF officials said that the choice posting will be given for a full term irrespective of whether the personnel were posted in particular operational areas recently and they will not to wait to complete their posting tenure.
This will be an additional incentive, apart from cash rewards or DG’s commendation or even out-of-turn promotion, the officials added.
This incentive will be applicable up to the Sub-Inspector level, they added.
The officials said that this idea was mooted by higher officials and opinion is also sought from the field formations too.
In para-military forces, there is a concept of ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ postings for all personnel but due to operational engagements in many theatres, the alternate posting system is not adhered to, a senior official deployed in operational areas said on condition of anonymity.
He also said that sometimes the jawans’ postings in hard areas like Jammu and Kashmir, and LWE regions get stretched beyond their tenure due to operational compulsions.
In such hard postings, the jawans do not have the facility to keep their families with them and have to stay in a very inhospitable environment – thus, they want to get relieved as soon as possible.
CRPF sources also admitted that due to these reasons, many security personnel have opted for voluntary retirement.
The officials also said that the 100 days leave in a year for jawans, as announced by tUnion Home Minister Amit Shah, will be announced soon as the framework of this comprehensive policy is being worked out.This will also reduce the stress of the security personnel to some extent.
