Malayalam Film ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ was written and directed by Jeo Baby.It featured Suraj Venjaramood and Nimisha Sajayan in pivotal roles.
After television channels and streaming giants rejected the movie, it released on Neestream, a Malayalam OTT platform on January 15th.The film received positive reviews from film critics as well as the audience for its well-written characters and thought-provoking narrative.
Now the news is that Director Kannan who has been giving a series of flops in Tamil cinema is all set to remake this acclaimed Malayalam film in Tamil and Telugu.
Kannan has acquired the remake rights of the film and the yet-to-be-titled film will go on floors from March in Karaikudi.
He adds, “Since it’s a bilingual, I’ll be casting a leading actress who’s popular in both the industries.Even the male lead is well known in the south.
I’ve almost zeroed in on the cast and will be announcing them soon. PG.Muthiah will be handling the camera, Rajkumar is taking care of the art department while Pattukottai Prabhakar is writing the dialogues,” he informs.
Director Kannan, a former associate of Mani Ratnam, had started his career with the successful ‘Jayam Kondan’, went on to direct movies like ‘Kanden Kaadhalai’, ‘Settai’, ‘Vandhaan Vendraan’, ‘Boomerang’ etc.Meanwhile, Kannan also has his film with Atharvaa, Anupama Parameswaran, and Amitash Pradhan, titled ‘Thalli Pogathey’, ready for release.This film is the Tamil remake of Nani’s ‘Ninnu Koori’.
The team has just finished the dubbing work, and are fine-tuning the final product.They are looking for a good release window at present.Stay tuned for more updates!
