Thiruvananthapuram 7 August : The CPI participants at the party’s Pathanamthitta district committee meeting have expressed their anger against the party secretary Kanam Rajendran.Many party leaders claimed that Kanam is an aide of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. CPI The CPI, which an official constituent of the Left Democratic Front government (LDF) of Kerala with four ministers in the cabinet as well as an Vice Speaker, has been dissatisfied that the current LDF government is referred to as the Pinarayi government , instead of the LDF and the district conferences currently underway in every district have been adamant with the criticism.
In an interview with IANS an IANS delegate in the party’s Pathanamthitta district conference stated, “The CPI state secretary is now an accomplice of Pinarayi Vijayan.
CPI is an political party that has been able to maintain its dignity regardless of the circumstances.We do not know how the state secretary is playing second fiddle to the Chief Minister and backing the Chief Minister in every action.”
The current LDF government of Pinarayi Vijayan has drawn criticism on a variety of issues, such as the revelations of the gold smuggling suspect Swapna Suresh about the roles played by the Chief Minister as well as his family.The CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran is the first to stand up for the Chief Minister in this matter and in several other emerging issues in the state.
It is worth noting that the former CPI leaders such as late Veliyam Bhargavan and late C.K.Chandrappan when they were state secretaries, had firmly supported the CPI party and stood against the CPM on the left.The CPI members are upset that Kanam Rajendran who was called a powerful leader has been serving as a ‘B team of the CPM and a major defense of the Chief Minister.
In the latest report of CPM Minister and leader M.M.Mani using sexist remarks against female opposition legislator K.K.Rema, CPI national leader Annie Raja had come out against Mani.But, Kanam shot it down and said that the tone of Annie Raja’s remarks was not the view of the Kerala unit of the CPI.This has also drawn harsh criticism from the CPI cadres who will be attending the party’s annual conference.
CPI leaders also spoke out in strong opposition to the state health minister and CPM leader Veena George, claiming they believe that the health system of Kerala that was recognized even by the world media in the past LDF government were destroyed due to the actions of the current health minister.
They claimed that Veena George was not answering the phone calls of CPI leaders and argued that an official with phone fear is not acceptable.
