Islamabad : , Nov 19, 2009 – The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has provided multifaceted opportunities to Pakistan for further strengthening regional connectivity, a Pakistani expert said. At a seminar about CPEC, Zahid Latif Khan (Chief of Asian Institute of Eco-civilization Research and Development) stated that Pakistan must create reliable and efficient routes of connectivity to maximize the potential of CPEC.
There is no doubt that CPEC has been a success and is contributing to Pakistan’s economic growth.Recently held the 10th Joint Cooperation Committee between China and Pakistan.
This has provided a fresh impetus for the cooperation in the areas of transportation, energy, and industry.He said that connectivity has been given a boost.
According to Xinhua, Khan stated that Pakistan could learn from leading economies around the globe, particularly China.He said connectivity has helped them grow tremendously.
Pakistan is part of CPEC which is a key project in the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative.He said that Pakistan could benefit from China’s experience and added that Pakistan “can work on connectivity strategy and tag this with industrial development and modernization under CPEC.”
Expert also stressed the importance of a policy on connectivity, which could help Pakistan and other partner countries increase trade, attract foreign direct investments and position them in the top spot in the global supply chain.
