Panaji, December 30, : , All foreigners arriving in Goa must pass a compulsory Covid test.This was announced by Vishwajit Rane, the state health minister. Rane made the comment in response to a spike in Covid cases within the state.The test positivity rate in this area has jumped from just 1% to 7.23 percent in a week.
Rane stated that “in view of rising cases, and in accordance with the circular by the Goa government, we will be testing all international travellers on arrival,” Rane added.
We had previously tested only 2% of passengers from non-high risk countries.He said that the Goa government has taken an important decision to conduct international passenger testing.
The festive season of Christmas and New Year is when tourism activity in Goa spikes, with thousands flocking to the coast state.
The state government announced Wednesday new restrictions for business and commercial operations such as bars, restaurants, and nightclubs.
They were directed to be operating at 50% of their capacity.
These restrictions stipulate that guests cannot enter any such establishments unless they have been fully vaccinated, or have received a Covid positive test report within 24 hours.
