Lucknow, Nov 30, : .The Covid-19 pandemic left behind a trail that includes cases of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
These disorders have increased in all age groups. Dr Mohd Aleem Sydiqui, a medical expert, stated that students have become addicted to screens and have displayed changes in their behaviour, much to the disapproval of their parents.
Parents must now play a greater role in diverting their child’s energy to activities that provide a similar boost to the brain to mobile phones.
He said that many people lost their kin during the first and second waves Covid-19 and many are still in financial crisis.
“People have suffered from insomnia and irritability even after the Covid period.” These people call us often,” the doctor stated.
Dr Omar Mushir of Apollomedics Super Speciality Hospital, a consultant psychiatrist, said that around 20-30% of people who were affected by Covid experienced post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and anxiety.Stress can make it difficult to sleep.
Dr Abhishek Shukla is the head of Aastha Geriatric Centre.He explained that loneliness is a major problem among elderly.
They were practically locked up in their homes during the pandemic and are still restricted from being outside in public.The impact on mental health from prolonged isolation has been devastating.”
Dr Shantanu Bharti (psychiatric consultant at Medanta Hospital) said that the pandemic has made everyone realize that mental health issues are real, and that everyone will face them at some time in their lives.It is vital to take good care of your brain, just as it is important to take good care of other parts of the body.
To get through difficult times, family members must offer emotional support to one another.
