When the world is struggling to get a high potential vaccine, Russia is into producing a second vaccine.

Recent reports state that Russia is expecting to approve its second vaccine on October 15.The vaccine has reportedly developed by Siberia’s Vector Institute, and the Russian media claims that the institute completed early-stage human trials of the vaccine last month.

A few months back Russia has already introduced its first coronavirus vaccine, Sputnik V to the world. However, it lost its credibility as it has not undergone third clinical trials, and it also suffered a setback from India.

Earlier, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) agreed with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories to carry human trials in India.

However, the Pharma companies failed to submit a revised protocol for conducting phase 2 and phase 3 human clinical trials for Sputnik V.Consequently, Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation has rejected the proposal from Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd to carry the further experiments in India with Sputnik-V.

It has to be seen whether Russia will do the third phase clinical trials at least for the second vaccine or not.
