Film Federation of India has chosen Chaitanya Tamhane’s court room drama, Court as India’s official entry to the Oscars for the Best Foreign Film Category.This Marathi film already won a National Award recently and has been in news for its contemporary India subject.
The film really touched many hearts and the panel feels that it is the right film to represent India in Oscars for Foreign film category.The film, starring Vira Sathidar, Vivek Gomber, Geetanjali Kulkarni and Pradeep Joshi, had released earlier this year.
The panel, consisting of 15 jury members, had reportedly watched 30 films on the whole and the panel feels that this time there are more than one film that deserves to be selected for Oscars.Meanwhile, the interesting thing is that the jury has also watched the films Baahubali and Srimanthudu.
Everyone thought that kaaka Muttai will also be a perfect choice but the panel was more impressed with the film Court.
