Ministers Adimulapu Suresh, Jogi Ramesh and Meruga Nagarjuna and Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna were present at the house site distribution event on Friday.

They said political parties and people’s organisations generally held agitations seeking houses for the poor but the YSRC government and chief minister Jagan Reddy fought on behalf of the poor to enable them get house sites despite hurdles put up by the Opposition Telugu Desam.

Municipal administration minister Adimulapu Suresh said this was the day when “conspiracies of anti-poor political parties” like the Telugu Desam were foiled in the face of a determined bid by the CM to treat the poor as his elders.“This is the day of coronation of the poor with pattas and this is a day that should be written in golden letters in the history of AP,” the minister said.

He said the house sites titles were given to 51,000 poor in Amaravati on this special day.

“These are not houses but villages.Chandrababu tried to destroy the Mahayajna (mega penance) headed by Jagananna to provide shelter to the poor in Amaravati.

The Supreme Court’s order on giving power to the poor is proof that Jagananna will go to any length to support the causes of the poor,” he said.

Social welfare minister Meruga Nagarjuna said that today was a day of celebration for social justice and a day to be written in golden letters.

In the past, Communist parties used to hold agitations and dharnas for housing.I don’t know where they have gone. They have joined Chandrababu and don’t want housing for the poor in Amaravati.”

He cautioned the beneficiaries that Chandrababu went to court against the grant of house sites to the poor in Amaravati.“If TD comes to power, Naidu will cancel these house pattas (titles),” he said.

Housing minister Jogi Ramesh said that in the war between the poor and the well-off, the Supreme Court stood by the side of the poor.

Real estate broker Chandrababu stood on the side of the elite, saying that the poor don’t have the right to live in Amaravati,” he said.

Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna said Chandrababu did not follow the CRDA norm of five per cent reservation to the poor under EWS quota and never offered houses to the poor as he was against them during his five years of rule.“CM Jagan stood with the SCs, STs, BCs and minorities by allotting houses to these communities in Amaravati.”

He appealed to CM Jagan to help complete the construction of houses fast so as to enable the beneficiaries conduct the housewarming by the time of the next Sankranthi festival.
