New Delhi, Aug 28 : The Congress announced that the election of its next President will take place on the 17th of October.A gathering of the Working Committee – the party’s highest authority for decision-making – on Sunday, approved the election schedule.Congress Election Authority Chairman Madhusudan Mistry announced the dates of the election process following an approval from the CWC, in its meeting that was conducted online and attended by G23 leader Anand Sharma, who had recently resigned as the head of an official party panel for the forthcoming Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections.
“It (CWC) examined and approved the calendar of dates recommended by the Central Election Authority of the AICC for the election for the position of Congress President,” a party statement stated.
The date of notification of notice is September 22nd Nominations are accepted between 11 a.m.until 3 p.m.from September 24 through 30, and scrutinizing will take place beginning on the 1st of October.The deadline for withdrawal of the withdrawal deadline is October 8 and the day of polling will be between 10 a.m.until 4 p.m.on the 17th of October at any PCC headquarters.
The Counting will take place on the 19th of October.
“The CWC reiterated its resolve to ensure the Mehangai Par Halla Bol rally in New Delhi on September 4 and the launching of the Bharat Jodo Yatra departing from Kanyakumari on September 7 , and its continued continuation following a huge success,” the party’s statement said.
The CWC sent its best wishes to the party’s president Sonia Gandhi, who is in the United States for a medical exam for a complete and quick recovery.
