New Delhi, Nov 30, : , In the midst of a face-off with government, Congress MP Manish Tewari, and Manickam Tagore, gave notices for adjournment to the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Tewari mentioned the farmers agitation in his notice.”During the agitation many farmer lost their lives to harsh weather, alleged state use of force and violent attacks on farmers lives,” Tewari said.
“Many farmers lost the livelihood of their families as they protested against farmers at the borders.
Many farmers who lost their livelihoods were the sole earners of their families.
“The government replied to Parliament and stated that it doesn’t keep a record of farmers who died in the agitation.
The government should keep a list of farmers who died protesting farm laws and pay compensation to their families.Sir, I am raising this serious matter of government neglect for the lives and welfare of farmers.
Congress MP Manickam Tagore also gave adjournment notice to Lok Sabha “to discuss the reasons for inflation and to direct Centre to take the appropriate steps to reduce excise duty petrol, diesel, and LPG to the level that 2013”.
The government repealed three farm laws on Tuesday, namely The Farmers’ Product Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act and The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act.These were the laws that farmers had been protesting for the last year.
