Beijing, Nov 28th : China’s mobile phones shipped 282 million units in the first 10 months of 2011, an increase of 12 percent year-on-year, according to data from China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. According to the CAICT, a research institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, October saw a surge of 28.4% year-on-year mobile phone shipments to the country, which reached nearly 33.58 millions units.
The data showed that 26 new models were released in total last month, an increase of 4% over the previous year.
Last month, mobile phone shipments were dominated by domestic brands in the country.According to Xinhua news agency, their shipments accounted for 67.9% of total shipments.
According to the CAICT, domestic brand shipments increased 9.2 percent over the previous year to reach 247,000,000 units in the January-October period.
According to International Data Corporation (IDC), China’s 5G smartphone shipments accounted for more than half the total smartphone shipment in 2020.
According to data from IDC, China shipped 60.1 millions 5G handsets in the fourth quarter of last year.
The country shipped 325.7 million smartphones last year, a decrease of 11.2 percent year-over-year.
