China is attempting to trigger rain during severe drought: report

Beijing 18 August : Chinese authorities are trying to trigger rainfall in areas of the southwest and central parts of China amid the worst drought and record-breaking heatwave according to a report in the media.
The Yangtze River, Asia’s longest waterway, is currently at record levels, and in some areas there’s been less than half of the normal amount of rainfall, according to a BBC report.

The reservoirs for hydropower are currently down by nearly half, according to officials.
