Chhattisgarh CM requires 5.25L gunny bags to purchase paddy

New Delhi, November 23rd : , On Tuesday, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh baghel wrote to Prime Minister NarendraModi asking him to supply new jute gunsy bags in a timely manner as per the Food Department’s plan on November 12th 2021.
Baghel stated in his letter, that Chhattisgarh was allowed to buy 2.14 million bales new jute bags from Jute Commissioner Kolkata.The state has received 86,856 new jute bags from Jute Commissioner Kolkata, but this is far less than what was required by the plan.

For paddy purchases, the state requires 5.25 million bales gunny bags.The Jute Commissioner’s plan states that if 100% of the gunny bags do not arrive on time, law and order can be established in the state.

The Chief Minister wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating that purchasing paddy from farmers based on the support price declared by the Government of India for the Kharif Marketing Year in 2021-22 in Chhattisgarh was likely to begin from December 1, 2021.All preparations have been made.

Kharif’s 2021-22 marketing year, the State of Kharif will procure 105 million tonnes of paddy from its farmers at a support price.5.25 lakh bags of gunny bag will also be needed.

Through a letter from the Ministry of Food and Public Distribution (Government of India) on 12 November 2021, permission was granted to buy 2.14 million bales of new Jute bags.The following schedules have been prepared for month-wise supply: 0.19 lakh bales in August, 0.32 million bales in September, 0.72 crore bales October, 0.72 lakh Bales November, 0.15 lakh Bales December, and 0.76 lakh Bales in December.

The state is making every effort to ensure that the Jute Commissioner receives 100 percent of the new jute gunny bag mentioned above.

The Jute Commissioner has yet to make satisfactory progress in the supply of gunny bags.

Baghel told the Prime Minister last year that paddy procurement at minimum support prices required 10 000 bales per year of gunny bag.If 100 percent of the gunny bags required for paddy procurement are not delivered on the schedule set by Kolkata’s Jute Commissioner, Baghel, law and order may be in effect.

Baghel mentioned in his letter that the Food Department of India has granted permission to Kharif to collect 61.65 million tonnes of rice.This is in addition to 16 lakh tonnes of central pools in India.The remaining 45.65 mil tonnes of rice must be placed in the Food Corporation of India.

In view of the circumstances above, Baghel asked the Prime Minister for an order to the Food Department, Government of India, and Jute Commissioner Kolkata to deliver new jute gunny bag on the scheduled date.
