They also said that they will be informed in August and will submit their reports within two of months.

This was decided following the Department of Consumer Affairs on Wednesday, held a meeting with representatives of electronic and mobile devices manufacturers to get their opinions on the universal charger model.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary in the Department of Consumer Affairs, Rohit Kumar Singh.

Organizations from the industry like FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM as well as representatives of electronic product manufacturers’ bodies were also present in the conference.

The concept behind pushing this idea came out of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge to reduce carbon emissions in India and the world, which he had declared in the Climate Change Conference held in Glasgow last year.

Additionally, the government has expressed concern that , due to excessive use of separate chargers to charge all electronic devices There is a dramatic increase in electronic consumption which can lead to higher levels of emissions.

This issue has led to the Government thinking about introducing universal chargers to charge every electronic device.
