But his stay at the crease on Saturday saw two India batsmen get run out. Both R Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah were run out with Jadeja at the other end.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Jadeja has been involved in run-outs in Test cricket. The all-rounder, who bowls and bats left-handed, has been involved in run-outs 20 times in the 73 Test innings he has played.

He has got his partner run out 13 times out of those 20 while he himself has got run out on seven occasions. The average comes close to 3.5 innings per run-out incident.

One of the reason could be that he is too fast for the batsmen he is batting with.On Saturday too, he called R Ashwin for a quick single which was too risky.

Pat Cummins, realising that the non-striker Ashwin was slower than Jadeja, threw the ball at the wicketkeeper, who disturbed the stumps.

A bit later, he flicked the ball off his pads for two runs down to square-leg and called Jasprit Bumrah for two runs.

Marnus Labuschagne, seeing that Bumrah was the slower of the two, threw the ball at the non-striker’s end where the bowler was caught short.

Jadeja was also famously involved in the run-out of Hardik Pandya during the 2017 Champions Trophy final against Pakistan at a time when Pandya was putting up a valiant fight
