Bhattacharya said that he as well as his partner expressed an interest in the bid for the Tilpara Barrage repair project.

“Since nothing is happening in the whole Birbhum district without the approval of Anubrata Mondal,” we contacted him and he demanded the sum of 10 crore in exchange for awarding the majority of the contract to us.However, we were unable to pay that sum and came to a settlement of the sum of 5.53 crore. We paid a sum of the sum of Rs 1.50 crore in advance to the Birbhum district president. The remainder of 4.03 crore 4.03 crore was later paid to his bodyguard Sehgal Hossain.” he claimed.

Yet, Probir Mondal alleged that the greed of the Trinamool Congress’s Birbhum district president did not stop there.

“At the time, I bought the Ford Endeavour for my personal use.Anubrata Mondal wanted to take that car from me as a present. At first, I was not happy.

But then Mondal threatened me with the threat that if i did not give the vehicle to him, he will implicate me in the case of narcotics. Therefore I had no alternative than to surrender the vehicle to Mondal.

Then Anubrata Mondal began using the vehicle, particularly during long drives. The vehicle is among of five vehicles that are that are parked in the complex of the rice mill,” he added.

However, despite all of this, Bhattacharya and Mondal said that they weren’t awarded the tender.”Instead we were incorrectly accused in an sand theft case and citing the reason for this our tender was rejected,” Bhattacharya said.
