Ottawa 13 Aug, Ottawa : The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) confirmed 1,059 cases of monkeypox in the country. The health agency on Friday announced it had confirmed that of the confirmed cases, 511 are from Ontario 426 cases are from Quebec 99 from British Columbia, 19 from Alberta three from Saskatchewan and two cases from the Yukon.
The government is flexible in its ongoing response based on evidence to the cases of monkeypox in Canada the PHAC stated that it is cooperating closely with provinces and territorial public health partners to ensure the coordination of the nation-wide response strategy.
The agency has delivered over the 80,000 doses of Imvamune vaccine to territories and provinces and is assisting in decentralised testing by supplying control materials and protocols to lab partners across the nation, Xinhua news agency reported.
The experts say that monkeypox is a virulent disease that can be spread from person to another through contact with an infected person for example, through kisses, hugs or massages as well as sexual intercourse.
