Cambodia, Myanmar discuss bilateral cooperation, ASEAN issues

Phnom Penh : , Dec 8 : , The Cambodian Deputy Prime Min and Foreign Minister PrakSokhonn met U.Wunna Maung Lwin who was visiting Myanmar to discuss bilateral cooperation as well ASEAN issues.
Lwin, who congratulated Cambodia for being elected ASEAN chair in 2022, expressed his full support for Cambodia’s priorities, according to a press release.

According to Xinhua news agency, Myanmar’s foreign minister expressed appreciation to Cambodia for its timely assistance in kind and cash, which helped Myanmar to combat the devastating effects of Covid-19.

Sokhonn thanked Myanmar and asked Myanmar to provide the necessary support for his stay.

According to the press release, “Both parties agreed to strengthen works in advancing cooperation in areas such as trade and economic, people-topeople exchanges, as well as cooperation at multilateral fora.”

Lwin made a courtesy visit to Samdech Techo Hun Sen earlier in the day.Both sides exchanged views about bilateral relations and recent regional developments.

The press release stated that there was also a candid discussion about how to support efforts to address the Myanmar crisis as well as strengthening ASEAN and solidarity.

It also stated that Hun Sen had accepted an invitation from Myanmar to visit the country on January 7-8, 2022.

Lwin’s two-day work visit to Cambodia was completed on Tuesday.
