Phnom Penh : , Monday, December 27th, 2007: A total of 114,583 candidates will be appearing in the annual Cambodian high school graduation exam.This is after Covid-19 was resolved, an Education Ministry statement stated. According to Xinhua, the annual exam is a requirement for grade 12 students in order to continue their university studies.
The Ministry stated that the two-day test will be administered to the candidates in the following subjects: geography and environment, history, biology and mathematics.
Hang Chuon Naron, the Education Minister of Southeast Asia said that there were 204 examination centres in the country with 4,616 room.He spoke to journalists while visiting the Preah Sisowath high school in Phnom Penh.
He stated that all educators and exam-takers must adhere to safety and health measures.These include wearing face masks and washing their hands.
They also need to have temperature checked and maintain physical distance to avoid the spread of Covid-19.
Two students who had returned from Kazakhstan to test positive for Covid-19 were allowed to sit their exams at the Capital’s Covid-19 treatment center.
The government granted all grade 12 students the opportunity to take the exit exam without having to sit for it last year due to the pandemic.
Naron stated that the exam was conducted after high Covid-19 vaccination rates in the Kingdom and a substantial drop in the number of new cases over the past months.
According to the Ministry of Health, Cambodia has administered the Covid-19 vaccines at most to 14 million people.That’s 89% of its 16 million population.
The MoH said that 13.62 million (or 85.1%) are fully vaccinated and have had two shots.3.39 million (31.2%) received booster shots.
