In accordance with the most recent rules under the most recent regulations, citizens in Bulgaria are required to wear masks in pharmacies, hospitals social institutions, and taking public transport.

Masks are not necessary for customers in stores and supermarkets.

The law was changed even though less than one-third of the total population of approximately 6.5 million people is vaccination-free against the virus.

The rules are applicable across the country regardless of the fact that case numbers are much more in Sofia in comparison to in the rest of the country.

The authorities stated that the decision on Thursday was due to the fact that the hospitals have adequate capacity.

The Bulgarian seven-day incidence rate of new cases per 100,000 residents is currently 138.

The health authorities recently reported 1,429 new infections in just 24 hours, but the actual amount of cases is believed to be much higher.
