Patna 8 Aug : Bihar Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha has turned Covid positive to Covid negative in just one day. Sinha via his Twitter account Sinha posted on Sunday that he was positive for Corona and urged anyone in contact with Sinha to adhere to Covid protocols and have themselves checked.He also declared that he was entering isolation.
On Monday, he again uploaded a message on his official Twitter account and stated that he made the decision to go negative on corona “with the help of God”.”I return to the Karma Path’.Don’t be scared of Corona.We must be on the lookout with it in order to beat Corona and ensure that our society is healthy”.
His shift between positive and negative in just a few hours is the subject of debate in the political circles of Bihar especially since the party’s Mangal Pandey is Health Minister.
Sinha is aware of how important his role will be in the event that Nitish Kumar dissociated his JD-U from the NDA and formed a government with the assistance of the Mahagathbandhan.
Nitish Kumar is not likely to be able to resign as the Chief Minister, however, he will need to demonstrate that he is the majority in the house.
In that scenario the BJP could play the game with the assistance of the Speaker.
If Sinha was absent and JD-U’s Maheshwar Hazari would be the one to lead the proceedings, and it’d be a cinch for Nitish Kumar to show his majority.
When the Mahagathbandhan was in the powerhouse in 2015, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav was given the option to accept the position of Speaker, but chose the Deputy CM’s position for his son Tejashwi Yadav as well as the Health Minister’s job for his son Tej Pratap Yadav.After that, Nitish Kumar smartly took the Speaker’s job to the JD-U and placed Vijay Kumar Chaudhary on the chair.
As Chaudhary was Speaker, Nitish Kumar did not have to worry about any obstacles when he returned with the BJP in 2017 and created the government.
The BJP will not make the same mistake again as the negative report of Sinha illustrates.
If Nitish Kumar is able to join with Mahagathbandhan the number will not be a matter of him proving that there is a majority in the house.
At moment the RJD has MLAs of 79, the JD-U has 46, and the Congress has 19 MLAs.
Left parties hold 16 MLAs, and there is an independent Sumit Singh.The remaining AIMIM MLA Akhtarul Imam is also able to decide to vote in favour of Nitish Kumar.
So the total number of MLAs is 162, which is much higher than the threshold of majority.In Bihar Vidhan Sabha, the total number of seats is 243, and the majority needed to form a government is 122.
On the other on the other hand 18 MLAs of the RJD are being investigated of not being honest with the Speaker in the past.The report of the committee on discipline has been filed with the Speaker.
He could decide to take action against them.
