Vilnius (Lithuania) Vilnius (Lithuania) 10, : Belarusian Opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya has announced her own team of people who are prepared to run Belarus, in order to replace the president Alexander Lukashenko. Two years later, after he returned to the presidency in elections widely believed to be rigged Tikhanovskaya presented an United Transitional Cabinet on Tuesday, in Vilnius where she lives in exile.
She has appointed the initial members of the body that aims to represent Belarus the nation’s interests, to bring about change in Belarus’ democratic system and restore the rule of law, she said.
The group is not a part of any state power, but it operates out of an exile base, she added.
Some of the members in the group are opposition lawmakers who were members of the Belarusian leadership, the dpa news agency reported.
Lukashenko caused unprecedented protests when he declared himself to be the winner of Belarusian elections on the 9th of August the 9th of August, 2020.
The protests were put down due to a massive crackdown.
Tikhanovskaya who, in addition, has claimed the victory in the elections, emigrated to Lithuania following the results.
