BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya passes away

Jagmohan Dalmiya, the president of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) died in Kolkata hospital on Sunday night.He was 75.

Dalmiya was earlier admitted to the BM Birla Heart Research Institute on Thursday after he complained of chest pain.An Angioplasty was performed and his condition remained stable for close to three days.

However, he was declared dead on Sunday night.As per reports Dalmiya died of internal gastrointestinal bleeding and internal organ failure

Dalmiya had served the BCCI for 36 years.

He was instrumental in growth of BCCI as powerhouse in world cricket and he helped India host the 1987 and 1996 World Cups.He also served as ICC President in 1997.

Dalmiya took over the reins of BCCI for a second time in March, after a gap of 10 years.He has not been keeping well for a while now and was not actively taking part in the day-to-day functioning of BCCI.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly and West Bengal’s minister in-charge of sports Arup Biswas rushed to the hospital after knowing the demise of Dalmiya.
