Dhaka 11th September : The Bangladeshi government launched on Sunday an exclusive sales campaign of essentials at subsidized rates throughout the South Asian country to help millions of poor families deal with price hikes.The Senior Secretary of Bangladesh’s Commerce Ministry, Tapan Kanti Ghosh, inaugurated the sales campaign at the dealer point in the capital city of Bangladesh, Dhaka.
The campaign, operated by the state-owned Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) is designed to sell essential items at subsidized prices to 10 million families with low incomes throughout the nation, Xinhua news agency reported.
The Bangladeshi government has previously stated that only card holders will be able to purchase the products at TCB-designated retailers and other sales outlets that are permanent.
In the program each of the cardholders will receive two liters of cooking oil as well as two kilograms of lentils and one kilo of sugar, and two kilograms of onions.
To reduce the burden of families with low incomes The government launched a special initiative to deliver basic necessities to families since rising prices for energy and commodities are causing an increase in the cost of living in the nation.
