The turmoil surrounding South African cricket doesn’t seem to come to a halt.South Africa has now put itself in danger of being banned from international cricket after it reportedly went ahead to intervene in the affairs of the sport’s national body following revelations of serious misconduct by senior officials.
South Africa sports minister Nathi Mthethwa has informed the global governing council of the action.According to the governing council forbids government interference and punishment is normally a ban from international games for the country’s teams until the national cricket body is operating independently again.
The global governing council confirmed that it has been notified about the intervention.The member nation has been advised by the governing council to resolve their matters directly with their governments.
The council mentioned that they will keep an eye on the development of the matter.
The board however has remained adamant and disagreed with their national Olympic body on removing key staff and the board.
The board has instead taken the legal route and ask for legal advice from the lawyers.However, it is not clear if the step taken falls out of ICC’s rules on interference.
It could also lead to the close doors for the South African team in international cricket.
