Authorities issues first flood warning at Dowleswaram barrage

Heavy rains have lashed many parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states in the last few days.Due to the continuous heavy rains, the inflow for irrigation projects increased.

The inflow for the Godavari river increased gradually.The Godavari River is overflowing at Rajahmundry in East Godavari district due to heavy floodwaters.

In this context, the first emergency alert was issued at Dhavaleswaram Barrage.Currently, the Godavari water outflow is 10,01,445 cusecs.

With this, the Commissioner of Disaster Management K.Kannababu is directing the concerned authorities from time to time.People in the Godavari basin have been warned to be vigilant due to the increasing inflow of floodwater.

Against this backdrop, authorities are discharging 9,11,838 cusecs of floodwater from the barrage into the sea.Officials have released 10,200 cusecs of irrigation water to the Godavari Delta canals.

As the authorities are releasing floodwater into the sea, the water level is gradually increasing.

They have also issued an alert to the people living in the low-lying areas.At Rajahmundry, the water level of the Godavari river is likely to increase, officials said.

On the other hand, the Hyderabad Meteorological department has forecast heavy rains in Telangana from tomorrow.
