As the floodwater inflow was high in the early hours of this morning, the authorities raised the gate of the Pulichintala Dam to a certain height. However, due to the heavy inflow of floodwater, the gate was broken and washed away with the floodwater.
The engineering staff immediately entered the field and tried to fix an emergency gate to avert the damage. The engineering staff immediately tried to set up an emergency gate, but to no avail, it was not possible for them as the floodwater inflow was high.
Authorities immediately lifted gates 11, 13, 14, 18, and 19, including the 16th gate and released the water downstream.Against this backdrop, the authorities diverted the traffic from the dam.
The inflow of the Pulichintala project is 1,10,000 cusecs, while the outflow is 2,00,804 cusecs. The total water storage of the Pulichintala project was 45.77 TMC, while the project currently has 44.53 TMC of water.Authorities have warned people in the Krishna river basin to be vigilant as the downstream increased from the Pulichintala project.
