Many incidents, including few bomb blasts, took place in the troubled bordering areas following the violent clash of July 26.The central forces have been guarding the bordering areas of both states since the violence of July 26, and the Assam-Mizoram security forces are stationed deep within their territory.Six Assam Police officers were killed and almost 100 civilians and security personnel from the two neighboring states were injured in the worst violence at the Assam-Mizoram Border on July 26.

Conflicting interpretations of the state’s territorial position are what causes the conflict between them.Mizoram claims that the boundary line is defined by the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act (1875), while Assam supports the 1933 demarcation.
