Melbourne, December 30, : , Former Australia opener David Boon was found to be positive for Covid-19.He will therefore miss next week’s fourth Ashes Test in Sydney.
According to the protocol of his local government, he has been placed in isolation. Cricket Australia reported that David Boon (ICC match referee) for the Men’s Ashes Series has been confirmed positive to Covid-19 after a PCR test.
According to Cricket Australia, Steve Bernard (a member of International Panel of ICC referees) will be taking over as the match referee in the fourth Ashes test match.It starts on January 5, at the SCG (Sydney Cricket Ground).
Boon is currently symptomatic.He has been fully vaccinated and will be staying in Melbourne.
Quarantine will be continued for 10 days in accordance with the Victorian State Government Health Guidelines.
CA stated that it was expected that David Boon would return to his role in the fifth Test at Hobart on January 14.Since late 2020, the Covid-19 protocol states that local umpires are also appointed to serve as match officials for bilateral series.
Cricket Australia stated that players of both sides, as well their families and support staff from England and Australia, as well the match officials, have had daily PCR testing since December 27, 2007.
